WHY DO WE CARE? 

They are our brothers and sisters. They are lonely, often away from family for a year or more. They are vulnerable to labor problems and to ship conditions. In port, they are often subject to temptation and exploitation. Many are poorly paid and send most of their income home to care for their families. They are essential to the world's commerce.
